Built in 1880 for a wealthy Maronite Christian Merchant, this splendid Turkish Ottoman building was the former Italian Embassy. The ambassador added Italian influences, transforming the building into a small Palazzo. The client, who studied history of art and has a passion for restoring historical buildings, first came to Catchpole and Rye, inspired by our La Cage shower and association with designing classical pieces. Taking two years to complete, it now serves as an atmospheric and colourful home for its new owner.
